The weekend

12:40 am Tuesday, 20 February, 2007

It was a long weekend here in the US. Monday was President’s Day and so a national holiday. I spent most of the last three days out taking photos and thoroughly enjoying it. The total was 580 photos taken with a whopping 360 of them taken on Monday wandering around Capitol Hill, the Mall and the Potomac Basin.

Part of the reason for so many today was that I made a very specific effort to frame my shots. I have maybe 25 of them that will make it up onto the web but I’m very happy with some of them. They may not be great photos but each one of them shows exactly what I wanted to shoot and so I’m pleased with that. I also had a friendly little squirrel join me on a break for a little while and he quite happily posed for some closeups.

Having said that, there are also a few shot from the hip pictures that I like and will put up and even a couple of put the camera flat on the ground and see what you get. There aren’t really any hard and fast rules, just keep pressing the button.

Hmm Flickr has just gone down again to try and sort the server cache issues which have been plaguing them all weekend. I was going to type out here while I uploaded and sorted but I guess I’ll just go to bed instead.

(Sorry for any mulitiple postings or feeds showing alot, I was editing a PHP file…without knowing any PHP. I have learnt that it something is not true then false is a good second option!)
